James Straffon

James is an acclaimed multidisciplinary creative, with over 25 years experience, in painting, murals, photography, and film. His work bridges the painterly, spontaneous world of fine art and the more specific, detailed sphere of graphic design. In this way he builds imagery which is both traditional and urban in its inception. This cross-pollination sparks creativity which is both innovative, prolific and highly-inventive. He works across a wide range of projects, including fine art commissions for large scale public art installations, private commissions and gallery exhibitions. His abilities also span Art Direction, feature writing, graphic design, photography, film-making and post-production. The act of hands-on making and knowledge-based design is central to his work.

James’ artwork is exhibited primarily in London, and is held internationally in both public and private collections. He is the co-founder and Director of the Turnpike Art Group - a platform for street art and artists - where he curates public exhibitions, introduces international street art to London, as well as creating his own work under the pseudonym TAG. James has provided commissioned installation pieces both on the street and for interior projects in London, and mainland Europe. Spanning both design and fine art, clients have included The British Embassy, The Royal Opera House, English National Opera, EMI, Tate Modern, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Barbican, Coppin Dockray Architects, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Paul Smith, Rapha Racing and Logitech.
