Fausto Coppi

"a skinny country kid who didn't look as if he could pedal a fairy-cycle, let alone a racing bike."

Angelo Fausto Coppi rode his first competitive cycling race aged 15, taking away First Prize, 20 lire and a salami sandwich. The rest is history. And very much cycling folklore. Six years later he would triumph in the Giro d'Italia; riding this Grand Tour for the first time. Fausto Coppi would win this event a total of five times; the Tour de France twice, with the 1952 Tour victory following a Giro win in the same year.

Epoca is an epitaph to the original champion of champions - Il Campionissimo. This three-panelled piece features original front covers from Miroir Sprint and EPOCA, and was commissioned in Spring 2011.
