On Friday 2nd July 1958, Brian Robinson became the first British cyclist to win a stage in the Tour de France. He was awarded the win on Stage 7 - St. Brieuc to Brest, and later commented “chuffed, because I knew I’d got my contract safe for the next year and probably the year after.”
He was instrumental in bringing Stages 1 & 2 of the 2014 Tour de France to his home county of Yorkshire.
