LUMO

In 1935, American visual artist Man Ray explored the technique of light painting, producing a series of works called “Space Writing”. Later, in 1949, after a visit from photographer Gjon Mili, Pablo Picasso began his own expressive experiment with this technique of ‘drawing with light’, the result of which was exhibited in 1950 in New York City's Museum of Modern Art.

As an exploration of wearable technology, the LUMO Series adopts the same, virtual performance art approach - engaging the pulse of LED strip lights to paint rapid gestures and physical movement within space. Within this act, a moment in time is recorded.
